Tal Shoham, an Austro-Israeli, recently returned to Austria after enduring 16 months of captivity by Hamas.
During his time in Gaza's tunnels, Shoham survived by focusing on the present and finding solace in small activities like card games.
Despite the harsh conditions, he expressed no desire for revenge, emphasizing his hope for peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians.
Shoham's release was facilitated by international efforts, including support from Austrian politicians.
Upon his return, he and his family were welcomed by former Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who hosted a heartfelt dinner in their honor.
Shoham remains deeply moved by the solidarity shown during his ordeal, though he continues to worry for those still held captive.
