Stefan Schmuckenschlager, the former mayor of Klosterneuburg, is facing criticism over a controversial land deal.
During his tenure as an ÖVP mayor, he purchased a property for €230,000 in 2019, which is now listed for sale at €960,000. The land, partially owned by the municipality of Gänserndorf, was reportedly sold below its market value.
Gänserndorf's mayor, René Lobner, defended the sale, stating it was a fair price at the time and that all decisions were made transparently.
However, opposition politicians are accusing the ÖVP of corruption and demanding accountability for the perceived loss to taxpayers.
This incident adds to a series of property scandals involving ÖVP mayors in Lower Austria.
