Floods Force Mass Evacuations in Tullnerfeld

Published: 2024-09-16

Severe flooding in the Tullnerfeld region of Niederösterreich has led to the evacuation of several towns, including Rust, Sieghartskirchen, St.

Andrä/Wördern, and Königstetten.

The decision to evacuate was made after a second wave of the Perschling River threatened to breach weakened dams.

Local authorities, including Landeshauptfrau Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner, have assured residents of their support.

Tragically, the floods have claimed four lives, and the situation remains critical as more rain is expected.

Emergency services, including 400 soldiers and numerous firefighters, are actively involved in rescue and relief operations.

Residents have been urged to leave their homes, with many already relocated to safer areas.
