Austria's unemployment rate rose to 6.4% in July 2024, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year.
A total of 341,769 people were registered as unemployed or in training, with significant impacts seen in the production, construction, and tourism sectors, where unemployment surged by up to 18%.
The number of job vacancies also fell sharply, down 18.4% from the previous year, with the service sector reporting the most openings.
Despite a slight increase in job openings in Vienna, the overall job market remains weak, reflecting the country's sluggish economic conditions.
Experts predict that a recovery in the job market may not occur until late this year, as the demand for skilled workers continues to grow, particularly in fields like electrical installation.
