Austria's Social Minister Sets Bold Goals

Published: 2025-03-19

Korinna Schumann, Austria's Social Minister, has outlined her priorities for addressing key social and health challenges.

With decades of experience in the ministry, Schumann emphasizes teamwork and expertise in tackling issues like pension reform, healthcare inefficiencies, and gender disparities in the workforce.

She aims to expand health centers and improve mental health services for children and youth, backed by a €50 million budget.

Schumann also highlights the need for better childcare to enable women to work more hours and reduce the gender pension gap.

While rejecting ambulance fees, she stresses the importance of rebuilding trust in the healthcare system by addressing long wait times and enhancing primary care.

Her approach reflects a commitment to strengthening Austria's social safety net.
