A 61-year-old man in Klagenfurt, Austria, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for the sexual abuse of seven young girls, most of whom were his nieces and grandnieces.

The abuse spanned over 27 years, with one victim recounting the lifelong trauma caused by the assaults.

The case came to light following a report and arrest warrant from Sweden.

Despite the man’s denial and claims of a family conspiracy, the court found him guilty in one of the cases and ordered him to pay €37,000 in damages.

The remaining six cases are yet to be tried, and the defendant has filed an appeal.
